A small change that helped with fluid and electrolyte patterns

One useful change with fluid and electrolyte patterns has been to predict the direction of the change before checking the reference range. It keeps me anchored to what the body is losing, retaining, or unable to regulate and the assessment findings that follow and makes it easier to see when I am studying isolated lab values without the organ function or clinical story. The improvement is small, but the reasoning feels more consistent.
